I have the great pleasure to photograph the artistic works by metal sculptor Chris Williams. His latest work is a series of cool bugs, made of a unique combination of custom metal work and hand-blown glass. Chris Williams Sculpture is located in Essex, MA. He is currently exhibiting an impressive collection of large animal sculptures at the elegant Boston Intercontinental Hotel. You've got to see his bronze vulture! The fog and rainy weather didn't deter us from going on an adventure to the magical island of Monhegan off the coast of Maine. Taking the first boat of the day at 7am from Port Clyde, we had a full day to hike, explore and photograph this well-loved island. Here's a small visual diary of the day.

Another adventure out of New England this winter and back to California. This time it was for a photography seminar with one of the best portrait photographers in the country, Bill Sorenson. While most days were spent inside the walls of a conference room, I was able (on the last day before my flight home) to take a quick trip over to the beach of Del Mar to see the Pacific. A brief detour but still worth it. Caught a number of surfers out on that Wednesday morning.
How fortunate to have a corporate client that brings me to one of the most spectacular hotels I've ever seen. The Hotel Del Coronado is an historic icon. Built in 1888, it was a stately destination for many a diplomat or movie star. What an experience to walk back in time and stay at this grand old Victorian gem. Of course, the perfect weather was a bonus. Here are a few shots I took on the day I arrived, just before the corporate event got underway.
How wonderful that the best photography conferences and trade shows are in the dead of winter! I recently had the pleasure to spent a week in Arizona attending the DWF digital wedding forum photography conference. Great speakers and great weather! Perfect temps in the upper 70's to low 80's each day and cool at night. I was also able to hit the big photo trade show at ImagingUSA in downtown Phoenix. After the conferences, I spent two days exploring the region with a road trip to Sedona followed by a visit to the Desert Botanical Garden to see fantastic cactus plants and the blown glass art of Chihuly. Here are a few photos from those excursions.
A corporate assignment took me all the way to Seattle, Washington the last week of October. It was my first time visiting this spectacular city. I stayed right downtown, so I was able to take an hour out of my first day to walk a few blocks to the world famous Pike Place Fish Market where fish really do fly!
We spent wonderful Sunday afternoon watching the Red Sox win over the Oakland A's at Fenway Park. I joined good friends Chris and Susan Conway. Not only did I shoot their wedding six years ago, but Susan was also my former client at Dunkin' Donuts. Now she's an awesome photographer under the name Susan Conway Photography and takes credit for the fabulous photo she took of me for my website and this blog!
